Stephen’s has a 25+ year career including the past 10 years as CFO of AMERRA since joining in January 2012. A member of the Executive Committee, Stephen brings prior experience with international responsibilities working for global organizations. His varied and deep experience covers a diverse range of financial roles in the commodities, banking and asset management industries. Throughout his career, Stephen has worked for both public and private companies, providing him with the background required to implement and maintain institutional quality financial control and operational excellence, within a well-managed cost structure.
He is responsible for financial reporting, accounting, audit, banking and tax matters of AMERRA, including managing relationships with SEI Global Services, Inc and EisnerAmper LLP, the primary independent service providers for fund accounting, audit and tax. Stephen’s team provides transactional support to the investment teams and transaction legal counsel. Most recently, he worked closely with the investment teams on Andromeda Seafood Ltd, Baja Aqua Farms, Rio Amambai Agroenergia SA, and AquaShip AS to ensure the best after tax outcome for AMERRA investors.
Prior to joining AMERRA, Stephen’s 20+ years of progressive experience included roles as CFO, Collateral Manager, Regional Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Auditor and Accountant. Before coming to AMERRA 10 years ago, Stephen was CFO at Province Line Asset Management, and was responsible for all financial activities of the company, including the design and implementation of procedures and controls for the company’s activities of commodities trading, distribution and brokerage throughout North America and the Caribbean region. Stephen’s wide range of past international experiences also included 15 years in various roles at Société Générale, ED&F Man, Continental Grain Company and Hess Oil Company from the years 1994 thru 2009, all within or specifically related to the global commodities industry, where he gained industry specific knowledge of sugar, pork, poultry, cattle, wheat, cotton, oil and other commodities.
Stephen has been a Certified Public Accountant in New York since 1998. He holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport. Since earning his degree and becoming a CPA, Stephen continues his professional development to stay current in his role by attending webinars, seminars and industry events on a regular and frequent basis.
