Carolina joined AMERRA’s Legal Team in 2015 to assist the investment team in assessing legal risks and developed optimal legal structures to mitigate such risks. She conducts loan documentation, prepares, reviews and negotiates agreements in several Latin American jurisdictions and coordinates legal due diligence processes.
A critical member of the debt investments team, Carolina also assists with restructurings, and supervises enforcement and litigation cases involving portfolio companies, working closely with external law firms to maximize recovery.
Carolina has substantial expertise with Brazilian regulatory and compliance matters applicable to investment funds and played a key role in the closing of AMERRA’s first FIDC (Fundo de Investimentos em Direitos Creditórios) and first FIP (Fundo de Investimentos em Participações) in Brazil. In addition, she provides support and guidance to portfolio companies with respect to corporate governance and identification of legal liabilities.
Prior to AMERRA, Carolina worked for different organizations in Brazil and in the U.S. as an attorney and program manager, advocating for social justice for native populations and grassroots women’s organization.
Carolina is a native Brazilian with a law degree from the Universidade de Brasilia and a master’s degree in international affairs from the New School University in New York. She is fluent in English and Portuguese and proficient in Spanish.
