A leading legal expert in the agribusiness investment arena, Ana is a critical member of AMERRA’s team. She heads the legal team that manages transaction documentation and legal due diligence, evaluates legal aspects of deals and proactively proposes solutions to mitigate risks, working closely with external legal counsel.

She provides strategic legal advice to the business teams in connection with structuring debt and equity transactions, seeking to limit risk exposure and maximize legal rights. Ana has an excellent track record of enforcing creditors rights in Brazil. Her fierce determination to maximize value for investors combined with effective legal structuring has helped AMERRA achieve strong results, even in difficult restructuring. Ana was recently invited to consult on bankruptcy reformation and creditors right by a Brazilian congressional subcommittee working on promoting foreign investments in Brazil.

Prior to joining the team, Ana worked closely for AMERRA as a partner at Santos Neto Advogados, a Brazilian law firm to providing legal services to AMERRA. In this capacity, Ana was responsible for advising clients in several matters involving banking, finance and bankruptcy law, including structuring, negotiation and drafting of financing documents, debt restructuring, credit recovery and legal matters related to the agribusiness. Prior to Santos Neto, Ana was a Restructuring Manager in Commodity Finance with HSH Nordbank responsible for restructuring work-out credits.  She also held numerous other positions at HSH Nordbank, including Relationship Manager of a trade finance portfolio of clients active in the agribusiness in Latin America, handling all aspects of client management, and credit analyst in the Commodity Finance business unit.

Ana is a native Brazilian and holds a bachelor’s degree in law by the Federal University of Minas Gerais. She holds a Masters and a PhD degree in law from the University of Bremen, Germany, and an MBA in Finance from the New York University Stern School of Business. She is fluent in German, English, and Portuguese.
